Keep the face easy to read
Choose a front-facing photo or a slight angle, with the eyes, jawline and hair visible. Even window light works well. Avoid heavy beauty filters, sunglasses, deep shadows and a hand covering the face. The person does not need to be singing in the original photo. A clear expression is more useful than a dramatic pose.
